DJ Ricky Recon Gathers Canadian Talent
DJ Ricky Recon (aka Warrant Officer Rick Currie), a serving member of the CAF, hosted the virtual party, “When Words Fail, Music Speaks” on July 18. It was a five-hour-long dance marathon, as Ricky weaved the night together with a march through musical history starting in the ’70s.
Ricky had a diverse lineup of guests to truly make things special, with visiting performances by Dr. Brice Miller (New Orleans, USA), Matt Stern (Vancouver Island, BC), Mathilde & Thierry (Montreal, QC), Matt Minglewood (North Sydney, NS), DJ Keith Dean (Montreal), the Provoe-Mercer Family, Steve Jourdain (Sarsfield, ON), Stiles Brisson (Paris, France) and Rang 6 (Gatineau QB)! It was incredible to see various talent coming together for something they believed in.
There were so many special moments from these incredible artists including Col Steven Jourdain MSM CD, speaking on his passion towards Mental Health; longtime supporter of the CAF Matt Minglewood’s performance ‘Kandahar’; and the very talented Stiles Brisson who played his song ‘Stories’; and finally, the brilliant ensemble virtual performance by ‘Rang 6’.
We were amazed to see that DJ Ricky Recon and the team smashed their original goal by raising more than $4,000, all from this virtual concert! This evening served as an amazing testament to the generosity of spirit and community of Canadians out there. In spite of adversity faced during these difficult times, we are all still capable of Adapting, Overcoming, and above all, SOLDIERING ON!
